Sejarah Pramuka Dunia
Kepanduan dunia berawal dari pemikiran seorang pemuda Inggris yang merangkum atau menulis pengalamannya saat bertugas di Afrika dan India. Pemuda tersebut adalah Lord Baden-Powell of Giwell yang nama lengkapnya adalah Robert Stephenson Smyth Baden-Powell namun lebih dikenal dengan BP.
Baden-Powell lahir pada tanggal 22 Februari 1857 di London, ayahnya seorang Profesor Geometry di Universitas Oxford, bernama Baden Powell yang meninggal ketika Stephenson masih kecil. Baden Powell bergabung dengan pasukan Hussars ke 13 di India pada tahun 1876, kemudian dari tahun 1888 – 1895 Baden Powell sukses bertugas di India, Afganistan, Zulu, dan Ashanti.
